Job description
To carry out technical assessment, authorisation and compliance assurance functions, participate in projects and in standards development and provide the necessary infrastructural support for the effective regulation of safety, including nuclear, waste, radiation and transport safety.

Minimum requirements
- NQF level 7 in Natural Sciences (Physics), Radiation Sciences or Nuclear Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years regulatory experience or relevant industry experience
- Safety assessment and radiation protection knowledge for Nuclear Facilities
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform review and assessments applicable to the Radiation Protection and Environment area.
- Perform ERP assessments in accordance with systems complexity and the need to ensure the best possible expertise is applied to such assessments.
- Participate in national and international forums as assigned.
- Responsible for limited project execution in relation to Radiation Protection and Environmental safety assessment.
- Involved in short term planning and participation on multiple projects including status tracking.
- Generally self-supervising within guidance and expectations of Manager.
- Identifies problems and recommend appropriate solutions on ERP related activities.
- Represent ERP team in meeting with internal stakeholders.
- Create input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides.
- Participate in other NNR work outside departmental as required, e.g. emergency exercises, etc.
- Identifying sources of technical information related to the specific discipline and relevant work to the NNR
